The specific skyline of a city is drawn by skyscrapers. In this old city, at the very most 7 medieval towers scrape the sky. Less striking but no less characteristic are the countless, small rooftops and gables.
Only together do they form Luebeck’s typical skyline.
I reinterpreted the postcard motifs and dissolved them into patterns, light spots and lines. When sharp silhouettes disappear, the view becomes free for what one’s own mind wants to see.
This is an ICM Photo (intentional camera movement). The image is created – or not – in the moment of the shot. I do not salvage almost-perfect shots with Photoshop. All you see are effects that were created in the camera. (ICE – in camera effects).
I print my photos on Hahnemühle fine art paper. It is almost like a hand-made „Büttenpapier“. It gives the pictures a soft look. Almost like pastel chalk.
